104 timepieces in dedication to Brazil's greatest living architect

Swiss watchmaker Hublot celebrates Brasilia (Brazil’s capital) and the architect who planned the modernist dream city with its aptly named Aero Bang Niemeyer watch. Hublot, as the official timekeeper of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, has worked with world renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer, to design the exclusive watch that commemorates Niemeyer’s 104th birthday. Niemeyer, famed for his use of concrete in modern architecture and one of the prime forces in the international modernist movement, is responsible for a sizable number of public buildings that make up Brasilia’s infrastructure. Although his most famous building may be the U.N. Headquarters in New York, or the Niterói Contemporary Art Museum in Rio de Janeiro. The Niemeyer watch is designed with black skeleton dial, chronograph caliber HUB4214 and indexes and dials of Brazil’s national colors (yellow and green). Like the age of the man in tribute, only 104 of Hublot’s Aero Bang Niemeyer wristwatch will be created and available exclusively at Grifith in Brasilia.
