For the 46th Annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari, Jeep has created the monstrous Mighty FC Concept above. The aptly named Mighty FC is inspired by the seminal Jeep Forward Control, a proto-SUV built from 1956 to 1965 that kept length at a minimum (for maneuverability) but also managed to retain a full-length cargo box for utility. For the Mighty FC Concept, Jeep‘s design team started with a 2012 Wrangler Rubicon and repositioned the cabin above and ahead of the front axle, lengthened the wheelbase, and added a custom built drop-side cargo box. This cargo area is more than 8 feet long, and accessible via a full-width, drop-side tray-style bed. Internally the Wrangler-based interior gets an overhaul with heavy-duty Katzkin leather in a unique color scheme. Off-road functionality is improved with the addition of Mopar’s new Portal Axle set — a modification that would normally run you $12,500 for the Front Portal Axle and $11,000 for the Rear. These offset axles offer the greatest amount of ground clearance for maximum 4×4 potential without requiring excessive suspension lift. Other features include massive 40-inch tires, King coil-over reservoir shocks, Hanson bumpers, a Warn 16.5 winch and a Corsa stainless steel exhaust system. Something tells me that if this Mighty FC ever goes into production, it won’t be long before you see Shaq driving one around Miami with a gargantuan chromed out Superman logo on the hood. But maybe the concept really deserves to be kept in the rough, as there’s very little terrain you won’t be able to negotiate.
