The Zagato name seems to always make a splash at the annual Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, last year debuting the gorgeous Aston Martin V12 Zagato. This year it’s BMW’s opportunity to play showstopper, as they did when they unveiled their road-legal Zagato Coupe. Clearly based on its Z4 model, the one-off Coupe concept was tweaked by the famed Italian design house to look like a very different creature — especially the rear end, which gets a dramatic facelift asslift thanks to an aerodynamic Kamm-tail back end. Otherwise the car features a hand-crafted aluminum body, double bubble roof and signature Z’s spaced throughout the car (including hidden in the b-pillars and grill). Perhaps most stunning is the BMW Zagato Coupe Concept’s exclusive Rosso Vivace paint job — a sheen that actually shifts hues from black to the classic Ferrari red based on light angle. Although just a concept for now, considering its drivability it is within the realm of reality that the one-off sees production…
