Brooklyn sister duo delivers a musical trip through space

Sisters Taraka and Nimai Larson, also known as Prince Rama, have released a new mixtape, Late Night w/ Silver Mercedes. If you’ve never heard of the Brooklyn-based duo, they’ve take on an ethos of their own, having written manifestos, delivering lectures from pools of fake blood, even conducting group exorcisms disguised as VHS workouts. They’ve currently finished inventing an apocalypse on which to base their new pseudo-compilation album Top Ten Hits of the End of the World. They’ve recorded with Animal Collective’s Avey Tare and members of Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, released 6 albums thus far, and plan to create a “Now Age” Opera based around the songs of their album Top 10 Hits of the End of the World. You can find more information on their opera at their Kickstarter page. The mixtape itself is a journey though spaced-out dance and disco ballads, surely that occupy the sisters’ minds most of the day, and ends with the 90’s-esque, fetishized song that’s been given a slow-burn remix, “Black Leather Gloves” from Cosmetics. Take caution when listening to the remix, it’s probably full of subliminal messages.
