This is Volume II of Lo Pan’s History of tokidoki (read vol I from Friday), the story behind one of the most prolific pop fashion lines of the decade. You’ve seen their coveted hyper-stylized Karl Lagerfeld vinyl figures, ubiquitous LeSportsac handbag collection, and Cactus Friends plush toys — not to mention all their wide-ranging Sanrio […]
Given the talents of the two designers involved it’s little surprise that this Vue watch would be so imaginative. Yves Behar, who we’ve interviewed for his work with the Mission One, teams up with Japanese designer Issey Miyake for what they’re dubbing the Vue wristwatch. As time marches inexorably on, the hour marker fades the […]
We are huge admirers of products that serve more than one purpose. While the Chopard L.U.C. Louis Ulysse watch only tells time, it can do so as either a sophisticated pocket watch or a…well…sophisticated wristwatch. This multifunctional accessory was crafted as a tribute to the company’s founder, Louis Ulysse Chopard. No price has been announced.
Handmade in London, the Jewelry Plot collection celebrates the humble data behind mighty economies: commodity prices. Then she met art director Nicholla, and they had […]

They claim the case fashioned out of one block made of layers of carbon fiber superimposed over each other is a first in the watch-making […]
Usually I’m more for the chunkier watches, but I love the bare minimalism of Workshopped’s Pi Watch. Designed by Ben McCarthy, the watch is constructed from stainless steel, and is waterproof to 30 meters. To keep things clean, you access the crown to adjust the time from the back of the watch. Available for $430.
Yoav Kotik designs his Kotik Precious Metal collection of earrings, brooches, rings, bracelets, necklaces and pendents from discarded bottle caps. Although they’re called “Precious Metals”, I’m not sure I see any actual precious metals — unless he’s being ironic, of course. Absorbing the pop iconography of these brands and their well marketed images — eg […]
The ever fearless Maison Martin Margiela’s new jewelry collection uses silver with unique texturing to appear as if all items — rings, bracelets and key tie clips — were wrapped in aluminum foil. Which kind of goes against the normal marketing rules of making cheaper stuff look more expensive, not the other way around. The […]
