Ever pushing the boundaries of music — both in production and presentation — Amon Adonai Santos de Araújo Tobin, aka Amon Tobin, is taking his next project ISAM to the highest level of live digital execution. The Brazilian producer and electronic music soundsmith has decided to present his latest album with a live experience only hinted at by the likes of Daft Punk’s famous pyramid, or Etienne de Crecy’s giant cube. Combining his love for art, electronica, gritty field recordings, sci-fi and an absolute mastery of creating and layering heart-shaking bass, Tobin’s newest album ISAM is the Ninja Tune composer’s next level opus. Just as his sound has evolved, Amon Tobin’s method for delivery has too. This time around he’s his eschewed his more routine DJ-centric live layout and instead chosen to use a large-scale live audio/visual experience incorporating a massive 3D Tetris-like structure — all impeccably enhanced and sequenced with digital mapping by some of the sharpest minds in the field. The project was a massive undertaking, designed in conjunction with Blasthaus, VSquared Labs, Vita Motus Designs, Leviathan and others. The ISAM tour kicked off in Montreal June 1, and will be seen next in Berlin, Brussels, Paris and Amsterdam, and ends in London. Those in attendance will see the astonishing 25′ x 14′ x 8′ multi-dimensional/ shape shifting 3-D art installation surrounding Tobin and enveloping him and the audience in a beyond 3D experience — peep the trailer below for a sample.
