The advocating of violence, promiscuity, drug use, shoplifting, vandalism, murder, suicide, controlling people’s thoughts and behavior…ah music, it just brings people together. Some even say that it’s so powerful that people just can’t be responsible for their actions when seduced by its poetic tongue. I don’t know about all that manipulative BS, but there’s no denying a good lyric moves you.
London-based It’s Pop It’s Art (a collaboration between Airside and EMI Music Publishing UK) turn classic song lyrics from the EMI catalog into works of art. Each piece is limited in number and signed by the artist. Some of the ones up for grabs include John Lennon’s “Imagine,” Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On,” Mötörhead’s “Ace of Spades,” Indeep’s “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life,” Primal Scream’s “Come Together,” Lily Allen’s “Littlest Things” and Amy Winehouse’s “Rehab.” Check them all out here.
