Back in the late 70s and early 80s, the Aston Martin Lagonda was the most expensive car in the world. It definitely looked the part, slightly futuristic in a decade where futuristic meant Millenium Falcon. It even had cathode-ray displays in the dash, but given they were made by Joseph Lucas, the British electronics “expert” that sent Jaguar’s electronics into fits of apoplepsy, it’s no shock that these displays rarely worked. (They even dubbed Lucas “The Prince of Darkness” for his constant e-failures). Well, Aston Martin has decided to revive the brand with this…a crossover SUV, Aston Martin style.

Why? I don’t know, the thing is kinda hideoous. Plus, isn’t it a little late to the luxury SUV party, given the success of Audi’s Q7 and Porsche’s Cayenne? And, given the fact that after last summer’s gas price explosion even the Sultan of Brunei is wary of buying a guzzler? Glad to see someone’s paying attention in the automotive world.
