Bugatti 16C Galibier Concept shown in Geneva

Back in November we were lucky enough to be one of the first to lay eyes on the new Bugatti 16C Galibier concept — and we had a lot to say about it. Not only was it the first showing in America, but it was second only to a private screening at their headquarters in Molsheim for Bugatti owners, so it was quite an honor from Bugatti. Although the car was widely panned, we were actually quite impressed by the design — though we did make the point to say the monochrome color that we saw as a small scale model was much preferable to the garish and unnecessarily gaudy chrome-like polished aluminum that they used for the concept. Well, this week Bugatti finally unveiled the opulent 16C Galibier concept to the world at the Geneva Motor Show — and did so in the monochrome black above (they must’ve listened to our input). Well done, monsieurs Bugatti, the car looks stunning. The 16C Galibier features a butterfly hood, LED headlights, a split rear window and eight tailpipe exhaust system. Inside, the luxurious walnut-trimmed cabin has individual seating for four, a floating center console, and an amazing removable Swiss-made Parmigiani Fleurier Tourbillon watch that we’ve covered separately. Power comes from a massive 8.0-liter W16-cylinder engine with two-stage supercharging, lifted entirely from the game-changing Bugatti Veyron. While Bugatti has been slim on details, the flex-fuel engine will likely produce between 800 and 1,000 horsepower, and will be stopped with carbon ceramic brakes. Bugatti has also been coy in regards to whether this car will even be produced, but as they unveiled it in Geneva — and have yet to come up with a followup to the about-to-be-retired Veyron — chances look very good that the Bugatti 16C Galibier will see production daylight. We for one really look forward to picking one up…for about $1.5 million.
