You may recognize the trailer below as one of the 4 fake films advertised in Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriquez’s Grindhouse double feature film. Rumors have circulated now for 2 years that the Weinstein Co was fast tracking Machete into production, and apparently the film has been made and is awaiting release. Now, due to all the recent Arizona-sponsored craziness we’re dealing with (best line heard on SNL this weekend: “I know there’s some people in Arizona worried that Obama is acting like Hitler, but could we all agree that there’s nothing more Nazi than saying “Show me your papers?” — see clip after the Jump), Rodriguez put together a new Cinco de Mayo trailer, which you can see at AICN, or see the original trailer below. The film stars the always amazing (and quite a humble dude, if you’ve ever met him) Danny Trejo as the title character, Machete — the meanest and baddest Mexican this side of Pancho Villa, as well as a true smorgasbord of C and D actors. Don Johnson, Jeff Fahey, Steven Seagal, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Cheech Marin, Robert DeNiro and even Lindsay Lohan (in the type of role that could resurrect her career) all throw their “talents” into the project. This looks like the nonsensical, Mariachi-type killfest that Rodriguez excels in — I wonder if it’ll play in Phoenix…?
