Greg Gillis blows up Chicago, films behind-the-scenes for Pitchfork

Today PitchforkTV debuted their documentary covering Girl Talk’s much buzzed about New Year’s Eve concert in Chicago of this year. If you’ve ever seen Girl Talk (aka Greg Gillis) live, you know he’s one of the most energized, fist-in-the-air performers out there. The blood and sweat Pittsburgh’s favorite son pours into each show is undeniable, and although his music is at times as commercial as you can possibly get, his layering and editing of tracks is nearly unparalleled, elevating the skill of the mash-up to an art. The man can even present an Avril Lavigne track and make you want to dance. For this NYE concert Gillis invested beaucoup bucks to build a two-story, five-room house on stage which took 4 days and over 20 crew members to build. The huge house came replete with a kitchen that included a refrigerator, dinner table with fruit bowl, blender and appliances, hutch filled with china and glassware, fireplace, couch, coffee table, rug, picture frames and more in the living room, a kid’s room with a bed, desk, computer and mouse, pencil jar, trophy, Snoop Dogg poster, and a bathroom with a toilet, sink, shower and curtain — plus fake trees in the yard. Oh yeah, and about 300 rolls of toilet paper. Basically, just like his music Gillis threw everything into the show and somehow made it work. Would’ve been a great show to be at…

P.S. I LOVE that avril Levine track and I hate Avril. It’s just the way he mixed it… it’s almost as if he took the giant Douche wrench, uncorked the douche hydrant (Which is kind of redundant cause Douche is French for shower) and took out his giant douche removing hose to cleanse the track of it’s douchy-ness simply by mixing it with something better.

Kind of like what salt did for sugar when it impregnated her and made MSG. alone their ok, but fused together as one… Andy Caps hot fries would not exist, and you would not ever experience the joy of tearing through the whole bag. Magnifique’!
