Australia’s PVT have just released their sophomore album Church With No Magic on the peerless Warp Records. Leftfield, dense with textured sounds and more than a bit deranged, the band formerly known as Pivot have a headlock on damaged techno, for lack of a better term. Amidst all that digital rubble, however, are beautiful layers of vocals and melody — a swirling combination of hard-hitting drums, FX-laden keyboards and chopped and looped vocals that will keep you on your toes. Now PVT are about to embark on a lengthy European tour these next two months, and to kick it off they’ve released two remixes of “Windows” by two very diverse artists (Dorian Concept and Danimals) and made them available for free download. Before they took off on said tour we scribbled down some questions and sent them over to PVT vocalist Richard Pike, and he shed some light on his lucrative pen-selling career, the laser beams that shoot out of his eyes, and his boundless love for his cat Ted.
