Arguably the most ruthless and brutal export to come out of Sweden since the Vikings, Koenigsegg updates its latest ultra supercar, the Agera, with the Agera R. Still utilizing the Agera’s direct-injected, twin-turbocharged 5.0 liter V8, the Agera R gets some tweaking to push an extra 205 horses from the standard Agera’s 910 horsepower, for a total of 1,115 hps and 885 lb-ft of torque. Clearly absurd — who could possibly argue that a 910 hp car would need a limited premier edition, but that’s the supermarket we live in. Although these performance figures only work when fueling the Agera R with E85 bioethanol, which has a much higher octane rating than regular petrol. If you use petroleum the Agera R’s figures are a bit more restrained: 940 horsepower and 811 lb-ft. Yawn. The Agera R utilizes a 7-speed twin clutch gearbox which sends all the power to the rear wheels — which means you can pull smoke-churning donuts in first gear in a spot as big as an elevator. To handle all that power, the Agera R boasts tires created especially for it by Michelin which are the fastest rated tires in the world — up to 260 mph. Every Koenigsegg is handbuilt in Sweden to custom order for clients, so don’t expect to see them at your local CVS anytime soon.
