Lüneburg Black Forge one piece blade

While it’s always nice to have a some fine J.A. Henckels, Kasumi or Wusthof knives to lay down the slicing law in your kitchen, there’s a lot to be said about the brute beauty of a hand-forged, one piece blade like the one above. In today’s cooking, there are a thousand knives designed for a thousand different chores, but this blade was designed with a time long gone in mind, a time when one knife did it all. Even in manufacturing, it is reduced to the essentials — forged by hand from one raw piece of stainless steel alloy. The knife, which features an 11 cm Blade length, is stamped with a grasshopper (the sign of the Lüneburg Black Forge where it was made) and comes packaged in a beautiful wooden box — a great gift for any aspiring foodie/chef in your life. Pick one up for about $90 (€65).
