It’s almost impossible to try to define the music of Lumerians, so we’ll just run with their self-appointed description as a Space Rock quintet from Oakland, California. If you want to get a good idea of their influences, just press play on the streamed mix below that highlights an hour worth of their influences — or check out their list on for Impose magazine showing random videos of their favorites — from commercials for the Micromen to world music funk groups from Benin to Raquel Welch dance videos. Safe to say Lumerians run the gamut — as they do on their debut full-length Transmalinnia released earlier this month. They intrigued us so much we decided to send them some questions. And they answered, not always being so friendly. But hey, you have to love a band that makes its money satisfying the sexual needs of people like us — someone’s gotta do it, and why not a Space Rock quintet from Oakland?
