Van Hulsteijn is a bicycle company started by a Dutchman named Herman Hulstejien, known in the neighborhood for his overtly wrought curve-framed creations. Mr. Hulstejien found it difficult to even sit in a bar without someone striking up bike talk, so he took his most famous design, the Cyclone, and brought it to limited production. The bike comes in an array of options, starting with either the two-speed Sturmey Archer kick shift coaster brake or the three-speed Shimano Nexus with coaster brake. Beyond the gear options select between three different seat colors and matching handles (brown, black or white), three rim colors and five frame colors. It doesn’t stop with the classic Cyclone, however, Van Hulsteijn also has several specialty designs such as the Paris, Woody and Blue Fixie — all loaded with custom touches and aesthetic niceties.
