The Ambassador of Boogie Funk drops the online boutique mix

One of the best online boutique retailers, Oki-Ni, has initiated a series of mixtapes by some of their favorite artists. As they describe, “Working with world-renowned DJs, bands and producers the series aims to ‘venture off the dancefloor’, allowing the artists involved to produce unique and personal mixes to a theme of their choice. The results are always eclectic, compelling and unique.” The latest — and 21st edition — is by American boogie, modern soul and electro-funk producer/DJ DâM-FunK, known by admirers as the “ambassador of boogie funk”. For his Truth mixtape, DâM-FunK dives deep into his record collection — launching the mix off with Larry Bright’s “Sunbeams” and then coasting through vintage Prince, Glenn Jones, Prefab Sprout and Oliver Cheatham before finishing it off with Jeff The Brotherhood’s “Beastmaster 420”. “All songs were taken from the original wax pressings. No mp3s or computer files were used for this mix. Just 100% ‘Truth’,” promises DâM-FunK. “This mix is what I simply listen 2 on any given day, while living life.” Stream below, and download at will if it soothes your boogie soul.
