Today is time for a confessional for the Madman. First of all, I know I’m gonna lose a lot of my indie cred when I say this but I don’t care — much to the frustration of the Imaginary Girlfriend, I have to admit, I kind of love Katy Perry. Perhaps it was that Elmo skit, maybe it’s the fact that she married Russell Brand, or maybe its simply the boobs. I don’t know. I don’t care. Who am I, Nostradamus? I’m not gonna hide in the closet of pop shame any more. I’m here, I’m straight, and I love Katy Perry. Mock away, young hipsters. So finally she dropped the video to what I’ve long considered the best song on Teenage Dream (yes, I own the album), and it’s a killer. Not only did she have the balls to star the ever shameful Rebecca Black in the vid, but she also hands out guest appearances by the likes of Kenny G, Corey Feldman, Debbie Gibson and Hanson. Seriously, fucking Hanson. An ode to 80’s awesomeness? Me thinks. Hopefully this gets you in the mood for the weekend…
