Newfound accessibility for Italian asphalt shredder

Ducati today unveiled the first images of their 2012 848 Streetfighter — a brand new entry level model created to add accessibility to the Italian manufacturer’s famous naked sport bike family. “Combining a new and brilliantly engineered 848 Testastretta 11° engine with the enhanced geometry of a chassis that provides confidence-inspiring agility, the Streetfighter 848 has enriched its user-friendliness with a smooth and flexible power delivery, revised ergonomics and Ducati Traction Control,” writes Ducati. Initially unveiled in Milan back in 2008, the first Streetfighter won the ‘Most Beautiful Bike’ award, and has since grown to become one of Ducati’s most coveted motorcycles — which we’ve covered before. The new 848 model will come in at a lower price point, however, and will be available in North America starting January 2012 onwards in 3 colors: red, yellow and matte-black.
