0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds with a 220 mph top speed

Born just four years ago, French carmaker Genty is re-igniting France’s supercar dreams with its highly limited edition Akylone. Sure Bugatti is technically French, but we all know ze Germans are the real puppetmasters over at Molsheim. Built around a carbon fiber and aluminum chassis, the Genty Akylone will be powered by an alleged 1,000 horsepower 4.8 liter twin-turbocharged V8 which can generate a paint-peeling 940 pound-feet (1,270Nm) of torque — all transferred to the rear wheels via an Xtrac seven-speed sequential gearbox (with paddle shifters). With a curb weight of only 2,425 pounds, that should allow the Akylone to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds on the way to a top speed of 220 mph (354km/h). Only 15 of the ultra exclusive Genty Akylones will be constructed at a still undisclosed pricetag. Expect to see the Akylone make its worldwide premier at the Paris Motor Show in 2012.
