LIAS Metal Editor throws down a wine & cheese throwdown

As some of you may recall, we recently reviewed the NYC art show New York, New York: Big City of Dreams featuring new works from Brooklyn native Mr. Kaves. Amongst other projects, the always busy Kaves recently judged an art contest giving aspiring artists their chance to “Be Heard” by selecting submissions via French wine maker Georges Duboeuf’s Facebook page.

The winner and finalists will be showing their art alongside Kaves’ new label design of the limited edition 2011 Beaujolais Nouveau. Ok, so that’s aight you’re saying, so what? How about some VIP passes to the exclusive launch? Really? How about some signed prints of Kaves’ latest painting? Not Enough? How about complimentary food and wine? More? How about tunes from some of NYC’s finest DJ’s? How about getting some culture while supporting a great charity City Meals? Yeah, we think so too! So while everyone else is donating $25 to enter, LIAS readers get in free by RSVPing HERE and pressing the PARTY option. That being said, the cause is really great so feel free to donate some cash anyway — there are a billion worse ways to spend a couple bucks. Just donate at the door, you’ll feel good about it.

For some background on Kaves, peep the video below that explains the contest and gets you a nice look at Kaves roots and his vintage tattoo parlor. The video was created by Trevz (The New Pop) and LIAS editor-at-large / NYC culture hound / Metal Editor extraordinaire / Van Halen mavin Matt Hanrahan who tells us that he is the next Marty Scorsese. Marty? Really? Maybe Matt’s been sampling the wine a bit too much.

We look forward to seeing the winners and of course to celebrating at the launch in NYC. Cheers!
