To honor the 50th anniversary of the legendary Shelby Mustang, Ford is releasing a new line of Anniversary Edition Shelby GTS, GT350 and Super Snake vehicles. Only 50 white and 50 black of each Shelby model will be produced, each outfitted with triple gold stripes to signify the golden anniversary. The lowest level 2012 Shelby GTS 50th Anniversary Mustang starts at $19,995 for the standard V6 package, while the 2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake 50th Anniversary edition — the most powerful Shelby ever built — starts at $59,995… and these prices do not include the base Mustang they are built upon. A base 2012 Mustang GT V8 coupe starts at $30,505, while a base 2012 Mustang Shelby GT500 coupe starts at $49,605, just to give you an idea. Sure you’re looking at over $110K for the 2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake 50th Anniversary edition, but the car comes in 3 power levels — 650, 750 or 800 horsepower — which make the cost justifiable. The 50th Edition Shelbys also come with commemorative badging, custom interiors, special wheels, 6 piston front brakes, car cover and a unique VIN number that will be entered into the official registry. A special museum delivery ceremony at the Shelby factory in Las Vegas is also included in the package, as well as exclusive collector merchandise. A fitting celebration for one of America’s greatest muscle cars.
