Although a hit right out of the gate, and accumulating sales greater than anything else in its fleet, Porsche’s Cayenne was much maligned by purists of the brand — among the most critical and vocal in the automotive world. Well it’s clear Porsche’s high performance SUV is here to stay, and it’s growing stable now adds the 2013 Cayenne GTS. An evolution of the the Cayenne S, the 2013 GTS is powered by a 420 hp V8 mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic AWD transmission. Although a beast, the massive SUV still clocks a 0-60 clip of 5.4 seconds on the way to a top speed of 162 mph. The specially tuned chassis lowers the ride height for better handling (complemented by Porsche’s Active Suspension Management), and gets a slew of exterior touches like wider wheel arches with 20″ RS Spyder wheels, high-gloss black trim and a twin-wing roof spoiler. The 2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS will hit showrooms in August starting with a base price of $82,000.
