Eric Valli documents an alternate lifestyle to our hectic society

For three years, Eric Valli lived with and photographed people who had decided to “live light off the earth” in the United States. A few photos capture what would seem to be day-to-day activities, and others are more intimate peek inside the subjects’ homes, yet all have the same objective: striving for harmony. Although the photos and landscapes are breathtaking, and the feeling of freedom and liberation that comes with living off the grid is enticing, I’m fairly content enjoying and sharing them from the comfort of my home. In fact, right now I’m thinking about popping a frozen burrito into the microwave and cuing up a Daily Show on my TiVo. Good luck doing that, off-the-gridders. Take a look at what life’s like Off the Grid in the Gallery below.
