Peruvian-born Mario Testino is one of the most highly regarded lensmen on the planet, having photographed nearly every A-list celebrity worth their teeth-whitener (Gwyneth Paltrow, Lady Gaga, Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Claudia Schiffer, Madonna, Rolling Stones, Giselle Bundchen and let’s not forget his Kate Moss by Mario Testino book) for the most prestigious magazines on the planet (Vanity Fair, Vogue, Visionaire, et al). His client list is extensive (Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Versace, Michael Kors, et al), and his endless work with both celebrities and fashion icons has turned him into a bit of a photographer-cum-celebrity. Testino’s latest book, Private View, compiles his best studio work and candid celebrity shots, and was published by Taschen in support of his inaugural exhibition in China. Readers can look forward to 300 pages of photographs of Diana, Princess of Wales and her sons, as well as a fur-cloaked Jennifer Lopez, to name but a few. Accompanying the photographs are contributing pieces from Vanity Fair Editor-In-Chief Graydon Carter, designer Karl Lagerfeld, author Jennifer Allen, and set designer, writer, and painter Patrick Kinmonth. Testino’s best recent advertising and fashion work will also be featured in the hardcover book. Whether you’re a photography or fashion lover — or both for that matter — the book can be yours for $70. There is also a limited edition version of the book delivered in an injection moulded plastic box for $700. Only 1,500 numbered copies will be available, all signed by Mario Testino. The accompanying exhibition Private View will be on display at the Today Art Museum in Beijing, June 7th to June 27th, 2012 and the Shanghai Arts Museum, October 29th – December 2nd, 2012.
