Today two of the best of the new wave of hip-hop artists dropped mixtapes — Lil B and Theophilus London. Among the top in the fresh crop of Twitter Rappers, the two albums include the Bay Area’s Lil B, aka Based God, who has compiled all his freestyle raps into one expansive encyclopedia of stream-of-consciousness babble flows titled the 848 Song-Based Freestyle Mixtape. On the other end of the spectrum is Brooklyn’s Theophilus London — a man known for his impeccable fashion sense almost as much as his unstoppable media assault Twitter feed.  His latest project, titled Rose Land v.1, is an 18-track missive on genre hopping, featuring collabs with A$AP Rocky (“Big Spender” — stream below), Big Boi (“She Said OK”), and Mark Ronson (“Glam Life 2.0”, a cover of Sheile E.’s “Glamorous Life”). Plus plenty of heavy sampling of the likes of Sade’s “Soldier of Love”, Marvin Gaye’s “Dancing” and Wang Chung’s “Dance Hall Days”. Download both mixtapes below and figure out who’s steez you’re feeling more…
