Its been a good week for music, highlighted by Flying Lotus releasing his “Between Friends” track with Earl Sweatshirt. Now comes the other shoe from SBTRKT (aka Aaron Jerome). Like the London-based producer previous release via SoundCloud, “Gamelena”, “Gloss” was captioned with minimal text: “#gloss #sbtrkt analog music”. So here we are again, thankful that SBTRKT is back in the studio and stringing us along with little snippets of what he’s creating, and frankly happy he’s doing so regardless of whether or not they’ll make his sophomore album. Also like “Gamelena”, “Gloss” carries a much more tropical beat, lots of textured drum patterns, and is without the vocal stylings of Sampha (we miss you, bud), which doesn’t mean that the track can’t hold its own. Definitely looking forward to what snippet will be released next, but until then we’ll have “Gloss” on repeat…
