Brooklyn-based duo Sleigh Bells (Alexis Krauss and Derek Miller) blasted their way into the music scene and onto everyone’s radar with explosive bass hits, aggressive guitar riffs, and celestial vocals off their debut album Treats in 2010. After turning on the crowd to their powerful sound, a question that crossed my mind was, ‘Where do they go from here? How do you follow up with a sound that massive?’ My answer came with their second LP, Reign Of Terror, which maintains its heavy instrumental roots but showcases more emotional lyrical content. “End of the Line” is a good example, where Krauss sings plainly, “It’s the end of the line/ so goodbye” punctuated with light hits from a drum machine while she and bandmate Miller (with guitar in tow) wander around outdoors on BMX bikes.
