Can’t think of a better way for the rapper formerly known as Mos Def, Yasiin Bey, to stage his comeback than by partnering up with Mannie Fresh, arguably the most under-rated hip hop producer of all time. The collaboration will mix Bey’s penchant for thoughtful, clever lyrics with Fresh’s genius in crafting the catchiest beat, a signature sound that single-handedly launched the Cash Money empire. As much as Birdman and Lil Wayne are credited with the success of the New Orleans label, they wouldn’t exist without Fresh who produced all their early, seminal albums.
