There are many an innovative way to furnish your home — you could sit your ass down on an Alphabet, Space Invader or Monster Chair. Designer Maximo Riera wants to add to those opportunities. His new Beetle Chair is based on the European rhinoceros beetle — one of the largest beetles and strongest animals on Earth, lifting over a hundred times its own weight. This strength is reflected in the proportions of the chair, with the seat located within the outer shell. The rhino beetle’s namesake curved horn is prominent in the design, and will certainly attract its share of visitors at the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills, where the Beetle Chair will be exhibited from November 4th till December 4th, 2013.
