Last night, in a large hangar in Playa Vista, Los Angeles, Jaguar lavished a well-heeled and sharply dressed crowd with Pimm’s Cup cocktails and bangers before it unveiled its latest automotive creation: the F-Type Coupe. We already drove the gorgeous F-Type Roadster across the Italian landscape this summer — one of the highlights of the year — where we waxed poetic on its gorgeous lines, incredibly balanced performance and sonorous, potent engines. So our anticipation of the hardtop version of the British automaker’s 2-seater sports car was clearly there, and Jaguar delivered. Like the Roadster, the Coupe features three engine options: a base 340-horsepower 3.0L V6, a 380-horsepower supercharged Coupe V6-S, and the big daddy of the bunch, the V8-powered Coupe R with 550 horses — blazing a 0-60 mph in just 4.0 seconds en route to a 186 mph top speed. From looking at the Roadster with its top up it’s pretty easy to guess what the Coupe would look like, but that doesn’t change its impression when you first lay eyes on it: it’s simply stunning. The Coupe will make your little automotive heart ache. The 2015 Jaguar F-Type Coupe will be hitting Jag-Land Rover dealerships in spring of next year, at a cost starting at $65,000 and reaching well into six digits.
