The Cadillac CTS Coupe — from last generation, not this one — has been one of our favorite American cars for years. Specifically, the fire-breathing Cadillac CTS-V Coupe (read our tales of the CTS-V on the Gumball Rally from a couple years back). But so far, with the latest gen CTS, the Coupe has yet to be announced. Instead, Cadillac have now decided to introduce the way more handsome two-door body style on the CTS’s little brother, the ATS — already a highly recognized vehicle, having won North American Car Of the Year honors. As with the standard ATS sedan, the Coupe will come in rear or all wheel drive, and can be powered by either a 272-horsepower 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder (with 295 lb-ft of torque) or the higher displacement 321-horsepower 3.6L V6 with 275 lb-ft of torque. Featuring an aluminum hood, Brembo brakes, light-up door handles, sleek packaging with prominent LED lighting (vertical headlamps and fog lights, horizontal center brake lights that act as a spoiler), 8.0″ haptic feedback touch screen display, full-color head-up display, OnStar 4G LTE with built-in WiFi hotspot, premium Bose soundsystem with active noise cancelation and a well considered interior with several trim options (three wood grains, aluminum and real carbon fiber), the ATS Coupe combines for one helluva package. We’ll be holding our breath for the high-performance ATS-V Coupe, however, which we hope GM will decide to green light soon…
