Bart Krzyzaniak, the designer behind Crave, understands urban wear for motorcyclists. He knows that a motorcyclist on the 5 freeway doesn’t have to visually resemble a futuristic stormtrooper loaded with armor, nor does he have to imitate a bad episode of Sons of Anarchy. Wait, those are actually all bad episodes (it’s really not a good show, people). The Axe 2 armored shirt is somewhere in the middle, although it does allow you to hold onto the biker-gang aesthetic while acting as a warm-climate alternative to the leather jacket. The exterior is a flannel blend of cotton, polyester and lycra, and the interior is 100% cotton. Couched between those materials hides the protection of a complete Kevlar lining, in addition to pocket-spacing in the back, arms and elbows that allow for added armor reinforcement. The four outer pockets and one inner also mean you’ll have somewhere to stow your brass knuckles and meth so should you select, or driver’s license and cell phone if you’re the boring civilian type. Turn in your bike-club colors for about $500 (€299); available in two patterns.
