Maybe you’re used to seeing designer dude sneaker’s here, but any shoe capable of wrecking both the basketball court and the catwalk has a place in the Supermarket. And so, to appease the inner foot fetishist/lowrider in you, how about some heels on hydraulics? Fashion designer Sylvia Fado has combined ideas of functionality with high fashion, which either means these shoes are deliberately much better for the back, or that actual real-life stilts are in this year. With inspiration drawn from architecture, industrial design and the shock absorbency built into athletic footwear, Fado brings us the “Kinetic Traces” collection. The shoes are built with springs, metal balls and hydraulics with the intention of reducing the negative impact on the spine caused by walking in heels. Still in the prototype stage, unfortunate supermodels, building hoppers and strippers will have to deal with lower back pain til the end of the year.
