Poledancing has gone from the lapdancer’s world into the frontier of fitness fads, but is here represented for its artfulness in Nowness‘ “Pole Positions” art video. Directed by George Harvey, award-winning poledancer Sarah Scott is shown in black and white, in slow motion, depicting the pole art as one evocative enough to tug heart strings just as much as it does dollars out of wallets at Spearmint Rhino. She describes poledancing’s increasing popularity in the fitness world as being beyond treadmills and Jazzercise: “…it’s still an art form; it’s still dance.” Perhaps at the next bachelor party, throw a long-stemmed rose to the stage and give a standing ovation in addition to making it rain, these girls fucking deserve it…
