Compact living in houses smaller than a walk-in fridge

Tumbleweed2

This guy Jay Shafer designs and builds houses smaller than some celebrity walk-in closets under the Tumbleweed Tiny House Company moniker. As he says, “My decision to inhabit just 89 square feet arose from some concerns I had about the impact a larger house would have on the environment, and because I do not want to maintain a lot of unused or unusable space.” Makes sense. I wouldn’t want to live in one as my prime residence, but they seem like amazing country homes to stash by a lake — small homes for quiet living. Houses range from the minuscule 65 sq ft to a more ample 835 sq ft, and you can either buy the plans for $16,000+ or buy a completely built home and move it yourself with a pickup truck. Nice.

Some homes and their stats below, and then a video tour through one of his homes…

Epu: 89 square feet.

I love his tiny houses! And admire anyone who can live with so little ‘stuff’. I have too much stuff!
