Joining the ranks of the award-winning, travel retail-only Macallan 1824 Collection is the Macallan Limited Edition MMXI. The MMXI single malt whisky is bottled at 48.2% ABV and has been aged in sherry oak casks. Some of the casks were “first fill”, creating fruity characteristics with hints of toffee apple, nutmeg, caramelized ginger and spice with a long finish. The premium edition is presented in a decanter that sets off the scotch’s deep mahogany tones, topped with a silver dress stopper and set in a striking rosewood burl display box. Most of us will have to go to a retail shop at one of the selected airports — such as the Sky Connection in Hong Kong International Airport — to grab ourselves a bottle. However our lucky readers in the UK are privileged enough to have the opportunity to purchase directly from Macallan’s online shop to acquire one of the 1,824 limited edition bottles for $170.
