High-tech materials & design used in two latest models

Kidrobot founder Paul Budnitz continues his creative interests in design with his latest line of bicycles. Having studied photography and film at Yale, and founding a brand that has grown to become an epicenter of artist-created designer toys and imports from across the world, it’s unsurprising Budnitz latest effort would excel aesthetically. The avid cyclist centers the bikes around a titanium frame built by elite American frame builders Lynskey Performance, and includes custom fabricated pieces such as the fork, stem, bars and carbon Gates belts. The cantilever frames on Budnitz’s bikes’ absorb more shock than traditional frames and do not rust or corrode due to the high-tech, top quality metal. Inspired by the lines of classic Aston Martins and ’80s-era Maseratis, Budnitz has introduced two models — the first model a lightweight urban cyclist commuter, designed with a framed arc from back wheel to handlebar (above). The second is a more relaxed bicycle meant to be a BMX bike for adults, which features wider tires and a rear wheel that’s smaller than the front. The design is said to make for an overall smoother ride than the former option. The first run of bikes have already sold out at $5,500, but the pre-order for round two will be available soon.
