The World’s First Free Live Audio-Visual Broadcast To The iPhone

underworld

I don’t go all nuts trying to be the first person to have the latest electronic gizmo, but I’m a sucker when words like “World’s First” are thrown around, which is why this caught my attention. On Friday August 7th at the Fox Oakland Theater (technology permitting!) Underworld will be the first to broadcast a live audio-visual to the iPhone. It’ll be accessible via Underworld Live.

To promote the release of the full Underworld back catalogue on iTunes, Underworld, in partnership with developer iZotope, have made a little iPhone iDrum application featuring some of their techno classics. I case you haven’t heard… they have a few of those in the bag. The tracks are pulled from albums Born Slippy, Two Months Off and Cowgirl. The application lets you remix, re-sequence and reconstruct 12 Underworld tunes, and also features a piece created by the band themselves exclusively for the application. Because free music is so great, Underworld are giving away a special live version of “Born Slippy” recorded at Brixton Academy. And all you need is a computer with Quick Time installed on a broadband connection or an iPhone on a wi-fi connection running iPhone 3.0 or higher.
