German modifiers/overlords of automotive badassery BRABUS have applied their skilled hands to Mercedes-Benz timeless G65 Wagon. Set to debut at next week’s Geneva Motor Show, the BRABUS 800 “iBusiness” Mercedes-Benz G65 ain’t your typical G-Wagon. As can be expected the G65 undergoes BRABUS’ usual stringent exterior overwork — including Widestar body kit, LED daytime running lights, fender flares, front spoiler and Brabus’ own “Platinum Edition” 23-inch forged wheels especially developed for the model — and absurd power mods. Achieved via the use of high-performance twin turbochargers, Brabus juices AMG’s already prodigious 6.0-liter V12 to a ludicrous 800-horsepower and 1,047 lb-ft of torque (1,420 Nm). That’s good enough for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) click of just 4.2 seconds, and top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
Its stainless-steel exhaust system with free-flow metal catalysts and quad tailpipes allows you to manage sound volume via a controlled butterfly valve. Operated with a button on the steering wheel, the V12 can either whisper discreetly in “Coming Home” mode or wax eloquent in “Sport ” position. But what separates the BRABUS 800 “iBusiness” G65 Wagon from the rest of Brabus’ fleet is its suite of multimedia and technology flushed throughout the vehicle. The idea is to offer the all-wheel-drive SUV with the capability to communicate freely and enjoy multimedia content using an iPad mini, Mac mini, iPod touch and Apple TV. The heart of the system — the Mac Mini computer, Apple TV module and power amp — are fitted into inconspicuous consoles in the trunk. The production rear-seat bench is replaced by individual seats, between which a tailor-made center console is installed with refrigerator, a folding and swiveling table for each rear seat, and docking stations with built-in chargers for the iPad mini and iPod touch. A special console was also developed for the stylish integration of the 15.6-inch LCD monitor into the headliner made of the finest leather and Alcantara. It serves as the main screen for the entire multimedia system, and can be deployed and retracted via the BRABUS Remote app specifically developed for the “iBusiness” package.
The rear-seat passengers can enjoy all benefits of the BRABUS multimedia system at any time. Both computers, the iPad Mini and the Mac mini mainframe, allow working just like at home or the office. The connection to the internet is established via a high-speed modem and a WLAN. Because the BRABUS electronics specialists integrated the iPad mini into the vehicle’s on-board electronics system, the tablet computer also controls the various functions of the multimedia equipment.
Throw in internet television displayed by the Apple TV module, DVD changer, high-end sound system and gorgeous leather and alcantara interior, and it’s fair to say the BRABUS 800 “iBusiness” Wagon will be instantly snatched up by many a sheik and venture capital-rich tech mogul.
