DJ Premier, Skrillex, Pretty Lights, Crystal Method & Mark Ronson team up with unexpected collaborators

RE:GENERATION looks to be a really interesting documentary following 5 world class DJs/producers as they break away from their comfort zone and collaborate with musicians from far-flung genres and backgrounds. Sponsored by the Hyundai Veloster and made in association with The Grammys by award-winning documentarian Amir Bar-Lev (My Kid Could Paint That, The Tillman Story), the documentary pairs Skrillex with the remaining members of The Doors, DJ Premier with NAS and The Berklee Symphony Orchestra, Pretty Lights with country stars LeAnn Rimes and Dr. Ralph Stanley and The Crystal Method with Motown legends Martha Reeves (of the Vandellas) and The Funk Brothers. They also pair Mark Ronson with Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Trombone Shorty, The Dap Kings and Zigaboo Modeliste — but really, what kind of stretch is that? That’s kind of pretty much Ronson’s regular army of collaborators. Hyundai will host a live RE:GENERATION stream which you can watch here tomorrow from 8-9 PST featuring the film’s opening 10 minutes, a Q&A with the DJs and filmmaker Bar-Lev, plus a live performance by DJ Premier. Lock it in.
