Telstar Logistics flew on the new Emirates A380 aircraft, which will fly from JFK to Dubai. The thing is insane. It will transport 489 people: 399 Economy seats on the lower deck, and 76 Business Class and 14 First Class “suites” on the upper deck. The First Class “suites” are little pods, complete with burlwood trim, a large-screen video display, gold-chrome trim and a retractable personal beverage station. No need to deal with some irritable, over made-up stewardess when you can order up your own Johnny Walker Black Labels. Neat.
There’s also inflight email and SMS (why can’t all planes come with email, btw?), 100 movies on-demand, 50 on-demand television channels, 350 audio channels and 40 electronic games. Oh, and First Class passengers have access to the aircraft’s two showers. Yes, showers. But the best part? Why, the lounge and bar, of course. With an onboard bar and shower, imagine how many Mile High Memberships will be certified en route to Dubai? I’m thinking about 28 per flight…
