I’ve always been a fan of Nixon. Mainly because I don’t make a lot of cash and they’ve always been on point delivering well made timepieces that don’t look, well, cheap. Their new LTD Collection of watches might be a bit more than their typical price points ($350 – $1,500), but it’s all for a good cause. The proceeds will benefit two highly regarded charities: the Grammy Association’s MusiCares MAP Fund (established to aid with the addiction and recovery needs within the music community) and the Tony Hawk Foundation (aimed at helping children in need). In case you’re not familiar, the Nixon LTD Collection began as a series of timepieces featuring leather watchbands created from the jackets, belts and guitar straps owned by folks like Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, Tony Hawk, Pink, Anthony Kiedis, Slash and more.
For the new collection they rounded up an equally impressive list of peeps: Jack Black (shown above), Joy Bryant, Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx, Angels and Airwaves, Silversun Pickups, Danny Way, Ozomatli, Ringo Starr, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ryu Nakamura, Fall Out Boy and Tristan Prettyman. The original artwork was created using paint pens and hard rock maple, which was then inlaid to watch bands. Custom-engraved case backs bear the celebrity designer’s name and include a stamped serial number. A certificate of authenticity and custom packaging add the finishing touches. The 2008 collection watches are available at select retailers worldwide, including Barneys locations in New York, San Francisco and Las Vegas and globally at Colette, Beams, Como and more.
