DJ AM’s Welcome Home party went down Tuesday night in LA and it was easily the party of the year…if not years. A lot of people wanna hate on AM (aka Adam Goldstein) cos of the whole “celebrity DJ” angle, but that’s just cos kids are ignorant — AM’s an extremely adept technical DJ and great party-rocker, and if there is any doubt to his street credibility, it should be erased by the caliber of DJs that showed up to play for free: Cut Chemist, Mixmaster Mike, Mark Ronson and Steve Aoki, plus performers like Will.I.Am, Uffie, Dirt Nasty and Danny Masterson (who also spun).
The party was slathered in X-Facter, that intangible quality that elevates a party to a Banger. Maybe it was cos the hometown crowd was showing love to AM and his lucky-ass life, maybe it was the supreme level of DJs, or maybe it was simply the free booze. Who knows. All I know is everyone there had a cheek-to-cheek smile of stupidity carved on their faces. Good times.
All proceeds went to the families of the 4 people that died on the fatal plane crash on Sept 19, and everyone – including performers – paid.
