Never been to Mama’s Royal Café in Oakland, CA, but I kinda want to check it out. Apparently napkin art is hot up there. They just got done with their annual napkin art contest—it was their 26th one. The contest is open to anyone. If you’re the best you take home $400. There are cash prizes for 2nd and 3rd place—the next 25 get free food. Sounds like Mama found a good marketing angle and a way to decorate her space. You don’t have to live in the area to enter the contest—just mail it to them.  Their next competition deadline is March 31, ’09.
