Audi has announced 2 new evolutions of its R8 beast: the GT3 production (above) and the soon-to-be-unveiled R10 (below). After winning almost every Car of the Year award in 2007, the new R8s are sure to be dinosaur-burning bangers. I had one for a week last year, and the car was without a doubt the best automobile I have ever driven. Period. The car slices up the road like a Japanese motorcycle, more agile than anything on 4 wheels. The GT3 is the motorsports version of the R8 and will be sold to customers for racing. Codenamed R16, the R8 GT3 should push over 500 HPs. So far, no word on co$t or production numbers.
The heavily rumored R10 will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show and features a V10 courtesy of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, and hence will match its output (552 HP). This is a huge improvement over the production R8’s 420 horses. Aesthetically, the R10 will have new LED headlamps, larger side blade intakes and larger oval tail pipes.
