Fresh off announcing their new 1198 SP Superbike, Ducati unveiled a teaser shot of their next motorcycle, the Diavel — a name taken from the local Bolognese dialect for “devil”. A first for the elite Italian manufacturer, the bike will be a power cruiser — much to the chagrin of many a Ducati purist. But really, who cares about purists? According to Ducati, the name of the bike came early on, when a prototype was wheeled into the room and an engineer saw its rear silhouette and exclaimed in Bolognese, “Ignurànt comm’ al diavel!” Meaning: “Evil, like the devil!” As for technology, the Diavel will feature ABS, Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Riding Modes, as well as the Superbike-derived Testastretta 11° engine (which produces 150bhp in other bikes). Although the above shot is the only official image of the Ducati Diavel (which will make its first public appearance at the EICMA International Motorcycle Show this coming November), peep the gallery below for some spy shots. Not your typical Ducati, but a stunner nonetheless…
