Rise Of the Planet Of the Apes is the upcoming origin story for what 20th Century Fox certainly hopes will become a franchise effort for the studio. Pretty much pretending that the Mark Wahlberg-led Planet of the Apes abomination never happened, the film tells the cautionary tale of genetic experiments gone wrong in San Francisco that lead to the rise of a species of super-intelligent apes. For the first time, the Apes will not be played by costumed actors but rather will be fully CGI rendered. The film stars James Franco, the gorgeous Freida Pinto, Andy Serkis, Brian Cox and John Lithgow and was directed by Rupert Wyatt. Rise of the Planet of the Apes comes to theaters on August 5th, 2011.
