If you don’t live in Los Angeles, you probably don’t know that this weekend the Carmageddon occurs. Is a race of car-like alien robots enslaving the human race, you ask? Ummm, no — no Michael Bay visions are manifesting. Carmageddon is what overactive, hyperbolic civic leaders (and assorted media) are referring to the temporary shutting down of the 405 freeway for about 15 miles this weekend. Is it gonna be absolutely hellish driving in Los Angeles tomorrow? Yes. Is it going to result in the near collapse of Western Civilization. No. But yes, it will suck — so much so that we’re escaping in Miami beach this weekend just to get away from the madness. But to all the suckers left mired in a dystopian gridlock tomorrow and Sunday, may we present you with this most gorgeous vehicle to make your hours fly by in style. Designer Dragos Prodan has put together this concept for what was one of Alfa Romeo’s most beautiful and iconic cars — the 1960s Giulia. While just a concept, the car was designed to match up with the company’s current lineup of cars, so in theory it could be developed. In theory. In theory the car is powered by a hybrid drivetrain which uses a 180 horsepower gasoline engine in conjunction with a 109 horsepower lithium-ion battery-powered electric motor, allowing the car to run up to 30 miles. Just enough to suffer through what will inevitably be the worst driving weekend Southern California has ever seen.
