Yesterday Ducati unveiled the long-awaited 1199 Panigale Superbike in Milan where it will be displayed at EICMA 2011 — the 69th edition of the Milan International Motorcycle Show. A new benchmark in the sportbike market, the 1199 Panigale’s new Superquadro engine generates 195hp making it the most powerful twin-cylinder motorcycle ever produced. Paired with its svelte dry weight of just 164kg, the combination bestows the 1199 Panigale with the highest production power-to-weight and torque-to-weight ratios in the world. An exclusive ‘Tricolore’ special edition livery (red, white & green above) was designed by Ducati to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Italian national flag, so people can once again talk about Italy without mentioning Berlusconi and his illustrious “cabinet”. Keep your chin up, Italy — the 1199 Panigale Superbike will go on sale in early 2012 starting at $18,000.
